I was in need of a weekend reset and did some major research on spa hotels near London. I came across Burnham Beeches hotel & spa and loved what it offered, plus the interior was a massive tick. This spa hotel was the best wellness retreat near the city.
I was pleased to read that the 18th century manor house had gone through a refurbishment. Out with the old, and in with new bold modern furniture to give the hotel a new look. They didn’t strip the classic look away, they’ve mixed it with modern and elegant designs. The place looks so beautiful and every corner invites you to stay a little longer.
The Arrival
Travel by Train
You can get the Elizabeth line from Farringdon station straight to Burnham Station. This is where Burnham Beeches hotel & spa is located. Once you arrive at Burnham station, book an Uber to the hotel. The drive from the station to the hotel takes about 5 minutes. I don’t recommend walking, as countryside roads are small and narrow, and only vehicles can use them.
Travel by car
Burnham Beeches hotel & spa is a 45 minutes drive from London. There is a car park for guests.
The Room
The rooms have character. Patterned wallpaper and stylish decor to make you feel right at home. There is plenty of space to store your luggage away. The beds are nice and comfortable, and the bathroom has big head showers. A spacious bathroom is always a win win.

The Spa
The facilities at Burnham Beeches hotel & spa includes treatment rooms, indoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, and gym. As a guest booking treatments in advance is recommended. You can also use the facilities at your pleasure, just remember to get your towels at reception.
Food
There are three dining rooms. The elegant Evergreen tea room used for afternoon tea. The stunning Verdure Lounge Bar where you can get drinks and light snacks. The stylish Brasserie where dinner is held every evening.

The Verdure Lounge Bar
I really loved how elegant this room looked. It had stunning decor and cosy arm chairs that made it hard to leave. I enjoyed a glass of processco as I sat back and enjoyed the chilled atmosphere. The service was welcoming and attentive. I also ordered a light lunch of avocado and tofu on sourdough bread. This was nice and tasty although it could have been done with some salad on the side.

The Brasserie
Dinner in the Brasserie was nice. The lovely team worked hard to serve each guest and were always ready to cater to your needs. I ordered the heritage beetroot and apple carpaccio for starters. To my surprise it was tasty despite the small portion. For mains, I ate sirloin steak with sweet potato chips. I prefer my steak well done, and well done it was. I did find it to be very chewy which I did not expect. The mushrooms were purified which I didn’t like. Other than that it was a tasty meal. I finished off the evening with a dark chocolate bomb dessert.

Room service
I decided to have my breakfast delivered to my room. I placed an order on one of those cards you get in your room to hang outside your door. On the morning of my departure, my breakfast was delivered on time. I love to eat an English breakfast whenever I travel. It’s the only time I prefer to eat sausages and bacon. Breakfast was fantastic, the bacon and sausages were all cooked just right and the harsh brown was nice and crispy.

The Location
If you fancy a day out, Windsor Castle is just a 20 minutes drive from Burnham Beeches hotel & spa.The Royal Ascot, The Great Park and Lego-land are also nearby.
My Experience: Why This Is the Ultimate Weekend Reset Near London
I had a very relaxed and refreshing time at Burnham Beeches hotel & spa. It’s one of those spa hotels that is near London but yet feels far from city life. From the moment the uber driver drove up to the manor, I knew I was going to have a great time.
I switched off my devices and threw on a robe the second I reached my room. During my spa break, I took long walks around the grounds, breathing in the fresh country air. I spent plenty of time reading and meditating, and the facial and massage I booked were highlights of the stay. After a dip in the pool, I ended the evening with bubbles in the Jacuzzi. I felt amazing the next day as I set off back to city life in London.
