Florence is one of my favourite cities to visit in Tuscany. A breathtaking city, rich in history, and stunning architecture. If you’re looking to visit this amazing city. I know the perfect Florence hotel with Duomo views and the best Florence rooftop bars to add to your itinerary.
On my visit to Florence. I stayed in one of the best B&B hotels with the most stunning views in the city centre. And by stunning I mean right opposite the iconic Florence Cathedral known as Santa Maria del Fiore.
Best Florence hotel with Duomo views
I booked B&B La Terrazza Sul Duomo . One of the best hotels in the historic centre of Florence. Located in an old historic building and opposite the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral. The B&B has a boutique style. It also features a private terrace that you can access during your stay. There is a small dining area for breakfast. Most rooms have balconies that face directly toward the Duomo. Still, you will need to pay extra in advance for those types of rooms.

Why a Private Balcony is Worth the Splurge in 2026
Nothing beats the peace of your own terrace with breathtaking views of the Duomo while the crowds gather in the square below.

The rooms are clean and spacious, decorated in purple and gold to give a royal look. During my stay, we opted for the deluxe double room. It featured a private bathroom and a balcony that overlooks a side street. We were able to see parts of the Duomo from the balcony. If you’re lucky to secure a room directly opposite the duomo you’re in for a treat.
Each room is equipped with complimentary toiletries and a bottle of wine, a complimentary gift from the host. The B&B also features an apartment suitable for a family or group of up to four individuals. The apartment includes a kitchen, a bathroom, and two bedrooms. It is situated on the terrace, offering unlimited breathtaking views of the Duomo.

Local Expertise & Personalized Service at this Florence B&B
If your room includes breakfast, you can choose where you’d like to eat it, on the balcony or dining area. The menu is simple and includes pastries, ham, bread, cheese, tea, coffee, and soft drinks.
I had such a wonderful time at this B&B La Terrazza Sul Duomo. I couldn’t believe the price we paid at the time, it was so cheap. The view of the Duomo wasn’t the only selling point. The location was just perfectly surrounded by designer shops, restaurants, shops and a market.
We were also pleased to have such a wonderful host Anna. She made our stay so comfortable and welcoming, always going the extra mile to help with anything.

Golden Hour and When to Enjoy Your Florence Balcony
We were given keys to access the terrace at any time during our stay. We made the most of the terrace, and had dinner and breakfast there. While sunset is the perfect time, the best time to go on the terrace is 8:am. You’ll hear the bells of the Cathedral echoing across the square , before the heat and crowds arrive. But sunset is still a good time. You’ll see the sun turn into a golden hue as it shines on the Duomo, a stunning sight. It’s truly the most magical time to take photos.

Where to Find the Best Florence Rooftop Bars
B&B La Terrazza Sul Duomo is within walking distance of various attractions. One of the best rooftop bars is the View on Art rooftop bar. The rooftop bar is located on the hotel’s 6th floor. This place gets pretty packed in the summer months so book a table in advance.
Another fantastic rooftop restaurant to visit is Loggia Roof Bar, located at the top of Hotel Palazzo Guadagni. This place has stunning views of Florence. Again, if you’re visiting in the summer book in advance it also gets very busy.

Ready to Book Your Room with a View?
Florence is more popular than ever in 2026, and since historic buildings only have a few private terraces, these ‘rooms with a view’ are always the first to sell out. If you’ve found a balcony overlooking the Duomo that fits your dates, I recommend booking it sooner rather than later. There is truly nothing like watching the city wake up from your own private balcony above the crowds.
