Best Countryside Hotels Near London

Richmond Hill Hotel

I had the pleasure of staying at Richmond Hill hotel one of the best countryside hotels near London. It’s within the Surrey countryside. A 10 minute drive from Richmond station if you’re taking public transport. Surround by nature, home to deers, and a scenic view of the River Thames. The perfect escape for a long weekend.

The Georgian hotel features 144 traditional luxury rooms made for your comfort, think cotton bed sheets, bathrooms with luxury products. Coffee and tea tray in your room, along with smart TV to catch up on your favorite shows. And a mini fridge to keep your wine or champagne chilled to celebrate an occasion. The hotel also features a gym, restaurant, bar and outdoor terrace. What more can you need?

If you’re a dog mum or dad they have taken care of that too. Your furry friend gets a dog blanket and bowl in your room. Whoof whoof!

The second I walked into my room I knew I was going to have a relaxed break. My room was immaculate and clean. It featured big windows with a lot of light coming in and huge curtains on each side.

The bathroom was spacious with a big shower enough room for two (if you must), mini toiletries are provided. Best believe I packed them in my weekend bag upon leaving the hotel (confess! you do it too).

Signature cocktails at the 144 on the hill

I was surprised to learn that the 144 on the hill bar houses 100 different gins. Never knew there was that much gin. I mean it all tastes the same right! haha not that I tasted all 100 gins! But it’s enough to keep the night going if you ask me. I went for the easy choice and chose their mocktails. I would have gone for the alcoholic drinks but on this occasion I chose not to. Don’t judge me! The mocktails were made to perfection and served with love.

End the evening with a delicious meal

You can select from a choice of seasonal meals on the menu. I fancied a chicken burger with chips, a simple choice but so tasty and juicy. I wasn’t expecting to finish everything on my plate. But I did it with a happy belly.

Richmond Park

After indulging in delicious food, I headed out for some fresh countryside air, and strolled down the hilltop. The hilltop is a walking path that leads down to some steps to the banks of the river Thames. The views are so beautiful especially at sunset. I walked to the nearby town center which has many independent and boutique stores.

I also walked to the famous Richmond Park which is just 2 minutes walk from Richmond Hill Hotel. The woodland is just gorgeous with many dog walkers, runners and people having a casual walk in nature. I had a lovely time getting my steps in. Yet, I must say I did not spot any deer on my walk.

Breakfast delivered to your room

Breakfast is served each morning at your request. I filled in a breakfast card the night before and left outside my door for collection. The breakfast was delivered on time the next morning. Eggs were fried just right, bacon was nice and crispy along with hot yummy sausages. The cereal and yogurt bowl were perfect. I took my time with each bite and was full by the end.

Check out from Richmond Hill Hotel with gratitude

With an unbeatable location and a very comfortable bed and service this is the perfect hotel to book. Everything was fabulous from start to finish. I really had no complaints but wish I had stayed longer than I did. So if you’re looking for a short break near London for a solo or romantic break. Richmond Hill Hotel will tick all the boxes you want to fulfill. I left with a heart full of gratitude having had a time of relaxation. I felt so fresh and recharged that I was ready to head back to busy life in London.
