Best Boutique hotels in Lisbon for first timers
Lisbon is an incredible place, every corner looks like a postcard. And where you stay is key and adds to the experience.
If you’re looking for boutique hotels in Lisbon for your first visit. In this guide, I share hotels I loved and recommend for first timers. Whether you’re looking for central locations, family accommodations, or authentic experience, this guide has you covered.

Where to stay in Lisbon for the first time
The best area to stay in Lisbon for first time visitors is Baixa-Chiado. It’s central and walking distance to everywhere. Another great location to stay is Alfama. It’s historical, authentic and a lot calmer. If you prefer a more lively area, Bairro Alto is the spot for bustling nightlife and trendy bars. For a laid back atmosphere, Príncipe Real is the one. It’s sophisticated, historic and has garden parks.
Lisbon boutique hotels guide
Browns Boutique Hotel is an elegant boutique hotel located in Baxia-Chiado. It features apartment style rooms with a kitchenette unit. Perfect for families or a group. It features a fridge, washing machine, spacious bathrooms and floor to ceiling windows. The rooms are stylish and come with Apple computers and flat screen televisions. They have truly taken care of the small things you’d expect to find at a hotel. The surrounding area couldn’t be more perfect with the train station being just 3 minutes walk. Your also 10 minutes walk to the popular Elevador de Santa Justa. Outside the hotel are restaurants and boutique shops
The room I stayed in was well equipped, spacious and bright with lots of light coming from the large windows. The hotel features a restaurant and an outdoor seating area. The workers were all nice and attentive and I felt well taken care off.

Urbano FLH Hotels Lisboa is another great hotel in a central location and perfect for first timers. This hotel offers spacious cosy rooms with plenty of space for luggage. A friendly front of the team welcomes you to this lovely hotel. It promises a good night’s sleep in their cotton sheet beds. You can also expect a great breakfast with a wide range of sweet and savory dishes. The location is excellent. A short walk takes you to Se de Lisboa cathedral, Rossio Square, local shops and restaurants. This is a good spot if you have boat tours booked as it’s a short walk to the port.
I loved my stay at this hotel. The bed was nice and comfortable, everything was clean and spotless and I had some good conversation with the friendly reception staff. There are many FLH hotels around the city centre, but I found this hotel cheaper and within my budget. It’s an absolute gem and would recommend it to solo travellers.

Things to do in Lisbon for first timers
I booked the Tagus River Cruise tour which came with a welcome drink and small nibbles. The tour was well organized from start to finish. We sailed at sunset and saw stunning views of Lisbon from far and many landmarks. It was one of the best experiences I had.
Another great thing to do that you must not miss is watching a Fado Show. This was truly remarkable to witness and join in with the singing. The performances are so passionate and engage with the audience. You get a welcome drink as you are shown to your seats. You watch a show introduction of the history of Fado before the singers come on stage.

Don’t leave Lisbon without taking a ride on Tram 28 which is the most popular tram. You can read my review on what to expect on Tram 28 in Lisbon. Or check out this post about things you should know and how to spend 4 days in Lisbon.
