How to get to Canterbury

Let’s start with travel arrangements. You can take a train from London St Pancras International to Canterbury West. I always book my train tickets on TRAINLINE.COM or sometimes OMIO.COM for cheap tickets. A fast train takes about 50 minutes to Canterbury West station. If you opt to drive to Canterbury it’s about an hour and a half drive from London. Parking in Canterbury is limited, there is a public car park on North Lane. Where to stay in Canterbury

The Falstaff hotel is a 15th century coaching inn which has its original beams around the hotel. I booked my stay on BOOKING.COM. I was impressed with the hotel’s boutique style, the use of bold colors and quirky designs. As I walked into reception I was greeted with warm smiles which is always a good start to your stay. The Falstaff hotel on the main street, but still quiet. It’s close to restaurants and historic sights like Westgate Towers. You can also visit Westgate Gardens which is 2 minutes walk from the hotel.

Rooms at The Falstaff hotel

The rooms at The Falstaff Hotel are designed with meticulous attention to detail. They feature modern styles and a stunning array of colors. Charming rustic lamps and vibrant rugs blend seamlessly. Warm tones and bold pops of color enhance the space. Everything creates an atmosphere of pure luxury. I was glad to get an upgrade to a Junior suite. The suites are based in an old horse barn. This barn has been transformed into a modern structure adorned with large glass windows.

The hotel’s bar exudes a retro disco vibe with disco balls casting a mesmerizing glow. You can relax on a stool at the bar. Alternatively, settle in at one of the tables. You’ll find the ambiance perfect for unwinding. There is an outdoor terrace offering a charming setting for enjoying drinks in the sunshine.

Upon check-in, you’ll receive a cocktail token, entitling you to a 2-for-1 offer. After settling into your room, make your way to the bar and indulge in some refreshing drinks.

Indulge in a delicious Breakfast

The breakfast offerings are varied and satisfying, catering to different preferences. From the classic English breakfast to vegetarian options and a selection of hot beverages, there’s something to please every palate. Parking Space in Canterbury

On-site parking at The Falstaff Hotel is available for an additional charge, subject to availability. If you require parking, it’s advisable to confirm availability in advance.

The wonderful Staff and Service

The staff at The Falstaff were nice and friendly. Upon check in I was given a room on the ground floor which had a small terrace. It was next to a beer garden which I wasn’t happy about because I knew I’d get noisy. So I came back to reception and told them my concerns, they immediately changed my room to a suit. I was very pleased with that because the room was huge with big plush pillows and a seating area.

Westgate Gardens

After you’ve explored Canterbury Cathedral head to Westgate gardens for a stroll around the gardens. The garden can get busy with visitors, especially along the banks where the flowers are. Overall, Westgate gardens is a great place to sit and have a picnic.

Punting along the River Stour

One of the best fun things to do is Punting and sail along the River Stour. A popular activity for families, couples or friends. You can book on the day of your travel with Canterbury punting company. If you want to do a walking tour, you can book on Viator.

Where to eat in Canterbury

There are many restaurants and traditional pubs dotted around Canterbury city centre. Head over to the FRINGE +GINGE or THE GOODS SHED for some good coffee or tea. The Good Shed is a good place to buy local produce and seat in the coffee shops. For lunch, I recommend you go to THE REFECTORY KITCHEN. It is a few doors away from The Falstaff hotel. They have a range of good meals to choose from and some good hot drinks. In the evening, check out CAFE DEZ AMIS. It’s a Mexican restaurant popular with locals. It is opposite The Falsstaff.
