Perfect Romantic Weekend in Bath for Couples
Why Choose Bath for a Romantic Getaway?
If you asked me where to go for a romantic break in England, I’d recommend visiting Bath city. The historic city of Bath is undeniably one of the best places to visit. It is well known for it’s Roman Baths and it’s timeless charm in Jane Austen’s classic novels. As well as being featured in television period dramas. The city of Bath has some historic buildings turned into hotels that will add the perfect finishing touch to your stay.
Stunning Georgian townhouses and honey-colored stone buildings provide a beautiful, romantic backdrop for couple photos. Walking through Bath feels like stepping back in time. Places like the Roman Baths, The Royal Crescent and The Circus are a sight to see. Then there is the Thermal Bath Spa which has a rooftop pool and stunning views of Bath city.
No wonder Bath is a proud UNESCO World Heritage Site that completely lives up to its name and a visit here will be the most romantic break you both will experience.

Boutique Hotels near the Roman Baths
One of the best hotels in Bath for a romantic getaway is The Yard, a luxury boutique hotel just 8 minutes walk from the iconic The Roman Baths. Once a historic coaching inn, its unique heritage adds an extra layer of charm to a couples’ break. The intimate hotel features just 15 beautifully decorated rooms.
From the moment you walk in, the service is incredibly warm and friendly. The ambiance sets a relaxing, quiet mood making it the kind of place where you’ll want to sit and enjoy a coffee or tea before heading out. The rooms are clean, spacious, and so comfortable that you’ll find it hard to actually leave.
I had the most wonderfully relaxing time here; the hotel truly takes care of its guests, offering a level of service that is hard to match anywhere else in Bath. The Yard is well-known for its signature complimentary breakfast, which is delivered in a hamper each morning. It doesn’t get much more romantic than that! We simply selected what we wanted the night before, left the card outside our door, and awoke to a lovely breakfast basket waiting for us. I believe it’s the best luxury boutique hotel in Bath.

The hotel is only a five minute walk to one of Bath’s most historic places, The Royal Crescent and The Circus. A further down the street you’ll see the Roman Baths, and Bath abbey.

Things to do in Bath for couples
Walking Tours in Bath
A walking tour might not sound like the most romantic thing to do in Bath, but I recommend giving it a go. It is incredibly fun and informative. A local guide will take you to the city’s most historic spots while sharing fascinating stories and hidden history along the way.
A visit to the Roman Baths is an absolute must. This historic site preserves the natural thermal springs where the Romans bathed thousands of years ago. You’ll learn all about the rich history that makes Bath so unique, and discover why the entire city has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Roman Baths

Another romantic thing to do in Bath is to take a boat onto the River Avon and see the city from the water. Book the Prosecco River Cruise with Scenic City Views tour. It’s a 30 minute boat tour with a glass of Prosecco included in the price while you sail past historic city landmarks.
The Jane Austen Centre

Not so romantic but a stop at The Jane Austen centre is worth a visit and why not treat your loved one to an afternoon tea in The Regency Tea Room.
A spa day in Bath
A spa day is the most romantic thing to do for couples. Nothing beats a day of pampering in the wellness rooms and walking around in a robe all day. The Thermae Bath spa is an all adults spa with a number of spa packages and treatments to book.
