A Christmas Guide To London

London at Christmas is so magical. I don’t think there’s any other city that put’s on a spectacular show at Christmas. Ok, maybe New York City….!

London’s decorations start at the start of November. Twinkling lights light up Oxford Street. Angel Christmas lights hang above the crowds on Regent Street. You can feel the spirit of Christmas in the air, from cosy pubs to department stores. To add to the excitement, Christmas markets open across the city. From South Bank Centre, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Greenwich to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.

Christmas locations to visit in London

Christmas in Covent Garden

Covent Garden is one of my favorite spot in London to explore especially at Christmas. A 60ft Christmas tree is placed in the west piazza. To add to the magic, fake snow falls every day for once every hour of the week. A dozen of Christmas trees are displayed along the Market Building. You can see Santa’s sleigh inside the Market building for those who want a photo of it. Then we have the food vendors selling Christmas nibbles, and festive drinks like mulled wine. On top of that, there are several restaurants you can book for Christmas lunch, dinner or drinks.

Browse the stores at New Bond Street

New Bond Street is another favorite of mine. I always do a Christmas walk in the morning and marvel at the Christmas decorations. All the stores are decked in the most gorgeous decorations. This part of London gets super crowded so it’s best to go in the morning.

Fortnum & Mason Christmas floor

Fortnum & Mason is a department store on 181 Piccadilly Street, it sells high-quality British products. The Christmas shop is located on the 3rd floor and has a variety of fancy baubles, and gifts. The ground floor is packed with biscuits and every teabag flavour there is.

Kew Gardens at Christmas

Kew Gardens is a fantastic place to visit all year round. But, the magic comes alive in November to January. As the Christmas light trail begins. The botanical gardens has spectacular light trials that will put you in a Christmas spirt. It’s a terrific night of wonder and magic for all to enjoy.
