Christmas at Kew Gardens

Christmas at Kew Gardens is among the best christmassy thing to do in London. Gates open from 14th of November to 5th January 2026. Kew offers a magical experience for families and friends during the festive season.

The trail starts at 4:20pm every evening, last entry is 8pm and the gardens close at 10pm.

Thousands of light installations are on display along trails at London’s famous botanic gardens. As you walk along the marked trails and hear Christmas songs being played. There are food vendors at different sections where you can grab food and hot drinks. Among my favorite are spiced mulled wine and hot chocolate with Baileys.

Now, when it comes to food, I always opt for a hot dog with lots of onions and ketchup! it’s so delicious and most vendors cater for vegans and vegetarians. All the vendors we visited for food accept cards. But be warned the prices for food and drink can be a bit pricey.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT KEW GARDENS CHRISTMAS TRAIL

The trail takes approximately two hours to walk. But, you’re free to spend as much time as you like at each light installation. You can even revisit sections to take photos. There are no time restrictions whatsoever during opening hours. As mentioned before, there are food vendors to stop for a Christmas treat. You can even toast marshmallows at an open fire. If you have children, they get to meet Santa at his grotto.

London’s greatest show at Christmas

Walking around the trails for hours is so fun. After your visit you’d want to return again and again. Believe me it’s something you’ll look forward to each year. Just don’t forget to wrap up warm, as you’ll be outside in the cold for long.
