An afternoon at London’s Japanese restaurant
I love authentic Japanese cuisine, it’s one of my favourite foods in the world. With so many Japanese dining options in London, it can be hard to know which one actually serves good authentic Japanese cuisine. So when I read that a new Japanese restaurant has opened its doors in Mayfair, I had to check it out myself. I wanted to see if this could be the best Japanese restaurant I’ve eaten at.

Japanese restaurant in Mayfair
Off I went to Mayfair, a plush area in London where diners flock to eat at fancy high-end restaurants. Clap restaurant was easy to find as it’s only 2 minutes walk from Knightsbridge station and Harrods department store being one of its neighbours.
After confirming my reservation at the front desk, I walked to a private lift that took me up to the main restaurant. The place is impressive, I loved the attention to detail. I loved how beautiful the interior is. This Japanese restaurant was already setting high standards and I hadn’t even sat down to eat yet.

Authentic Japanese Cuisine
It’s great when a restaurant lives up to its standards and values, and this Japanese restaurant truly delivered and more. I wanted to experience Japanese culture and the authentic taste with these dishes. The menu offers veterinarian options, kids menu, and small plates perfect for sharing and tasting a selection of dishes. It also features an à la carte menu infused with authentic Japanese dishes.
I loved the grilled salmon which was nice and tender along with a seaweed salad garnished with a spicy dressing. From the drinks menu, I ordered a fresh juicy cocktail which was recommended by the waiter and made at the bar. The excellent presentation of the sushi rolls laid out at the sushi bar was perfection to my eyes. The DJ played 90’s music and brought back childhood memories. A little dance was had with each bite for sure. The food was delicious, it tasted fresh and full of flavours that had my taste buds screaming for more with each bite. I’m a desert girl so I made sure to save room for it, and glad I did because the matcha cheesecake hit the spot.
Best Japanese restaurant
Clap Restaurant has definitely set the bar high. The food tasted so fresh, the service was top notch and the place was just good vibes throughout my dining experience. So, if you are looking for good sushi and Japanese food, get yourself to Clap Restaurant. It’s one of the best Japanese restaurants and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since my visit.
